THE STORY BEHIND THE SHOW
The Adventures of Ben Born Again & YellowDog is the creation of Pastor Greg Laurie. It’s inspired by his own life and features cartoon characters he has been drawing for decades! Ben is a laidback surfer who loves the beach and loves Jesus even more. YellowDog is there for the laughs and often gets himself into trouble, but is always ready to learn a valuable lesson. Together, these friends present the gospel and other biblical principles in a fun, easy-to-understand way for all ages to enjoy.
MEET THE CHARACTERS
BEN BORN AGAIN
Ben is ready to help you face each day with a smile and a surfboard. He loves all things 70s, so he’ll never cut his hair or sell his VW bus! He’s a 17-year-old who enjoys surfing, skateboarding, reading his Bible, and hanging out with his faithful pal, YellowDog.
Above all, Ben has unwavering faith in Jesus and is eager to share that saving grace with the whole world! He firmly believes that Jesus is the answer to…well, everything!
Yellowdog
As his loyal sidekick and eternal friend, YellowDog adds humor to every adventure!
YellowDog is curious, just like you, and he’s always willing to ask the questions you’re afraid to ask.
SUMMER
Headstrong and chatty, Summer is the only friend Ben has who can quote more Bible verses than him! Their mutual love for Jesus makes them great friends, but Summer also likes to challenge Ben in spirited discussions.
Summer loves to surf and works at the boat rental shop near the shore. She lives in a big family with two parents, two younger sisters, and a huge big brother.
WILLIE
Willie is the new kid in town from Georgia. He loves deep-fried Southern food and sweet tea but is totally mystified by fish tacos and shaved ice.
He finds true friends in Ben and Summer, which is like striking gold in a new place. They are excited to teach him about Jesus, and he’s ready to learn!
Hopkins
A side glance may be all you get from Hopkins, the cat next door. He regards the world with silence and disdain. But when he does speak, his words brim with malice.
And he can be a real menace! He’ll steal your food, shred your drapes, or knock over the trash can at 3 am just to hear the sound. No wonder YellowDog sees this cat as his arch-nemesis…
THE STICKMEN
These little sketches are simple stick figures that pop up whenever they are needed. The Stickmen help us to understand the story behind every adventure that Ben and YellowDog embark on!
They’ll happily act out a variety of Bible characters. But they can also show up anywhere in Ben’s world if they please.
The Stickmen are rarely seen by our main characters. Mostly, their antics just make you laugh as you watch The Adventures of Ben Born Again and YellowDog!
